Jesus CHRIST

  • Is 1 John 5:7 a valid verse for the trinity doctrine?

1 John 5:7 is a verse used by the Christian world to prove the trinity doctrine. Most honest pastors, theologians and scholars would not use this verse as they know the problems with it. Unfortunately, they are not honest enough to tell the members of their churches! You have to go to their theological books to find out that there is a problem with this verse. I still don't understand why these people will lie to their members just to keep a false belief in who GOD is? This is deception and is breaking one of the commandments.

Exodus 20:16  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Here is the verse under question.

1 John 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

This is what Adam Clarke said about this verse:

"There are three that bear record - The Father, who bears testimony to his Son; the Word or Λογος , Logos, who bears testimony to the Father; and the Holy Ghost, which bears testimony to the Father and the Son. And these three are one in essence, and agree in the one testimony, that Jesus came to die for, and give life to, the world.

But it is likely this verse is not genuine. It is wanting in every MS. of this epistle written before the invention of printing, one excepted, the Codex Montfortii, in Trinity College, Dublin: the others which omit this verse amount to one hundred and twelve.

It is wanting in both the Syriac, all the Arabic, Ethiopic, the Coptic, Sahidic, Armenian, Slavonian, etc., in a word, in all the ancient versions but the Vulgate; and even of this version many of the most ancient and correct MSS. have it not. It is wanting also in all the ancient Greek fathers; and in most even of the Latin.

The words, as they exist in all the Greek MSS. with the exception of the Codex Montfortii, are the following: -

"1Jo 5:6. This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness because the Spirit is truth.

1Jo 5:7. For there are three that bear witness, the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one.

1Jo 5:9. If we receive the witness of man, the witness of God is greater, etc."

The words that are omitted by all the MSS., the above excepted, and all the versions, the Vulgate excepted, are these: -

[In heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one, and there are three which bear witness in earth].

To make the whole more clear, that every reader may see what has been added, I shall set down these verses, with the inserted words in brackets.

"1Jo 5:6. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

1Jo 5:7. For there are three that bear record [in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one. 1Jo 5:8. And there are three that bear witness in earth],the Spirit, and the water, and the blood, and these three agree in one.

1Jo 5:9. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater, etc."

Any man may see, on examining the words, that if those included in brackets, which are wanting in the MSS. and versions, be omitted, there is no want of connection; and as to the sense, it is complete and perfect without them; and, indeed much more so than with them. I shall conclude this part of the note by observing, with Dr. Dodd, "that there are some internal and accidental marks which may render the passage suspected; for the sense is complete, and indeed more clear and better preserved, without it. Besides, the Spirit is mentioned, both as a witness in heaven and on earth; so that the six witnesses are thereby reduced to five, and the equality of number, or antithesis between the witnesses in heaven and on earth, is quite taken away. Besides, what need of witnesses in heaven? No one there doubts that Jesus is the Messiah; and if it be said that Father, Son, and Spirit are witnesses on earth, then there are five witnesses on earth, and none in heaven; not to say that there is a little difficulty in interpreting how the Word or the Son can be a witness to himself."

It may be necessary to inquire how this verse stood in our earliest English Bibles. In Coverdale's Bible, printed about 1535, for it bears no date, the seventh verse is put in brackets thus: -

And it is the Sprete that beareth wytnes; for the Sprete is the truth. (For there are thre which beare recorde in heaven: the Father, the Woorde, and the Holy Ghost, and these thre are one.) And there are thre which beare record in earth: the Sprete, water, and bloude and these thre are one. If we receyve, etc.

Tindal was as critical as he was conscientious; and though he admitted the words into the text of the first edition of his New Testament printed in 1526, yet he distinguished them by a different letter, and put them in brackets, as Coverdale has done; and also the words in earth, which stand in 1Jo 5:8, without proper authority, and which being excluded make the text the same as in the MSS., etc.

Two editions of this version are now before me; one printed in English and Latin, quarto, with the following title: -

The New Testament, both in Englyshe and Laten, of Master Erasmus translation - and imprinted by William Powell - the yere of out Lorde M.CCCCC.XLVII. And the fyrste yere of the kynges (Edw. VI.) moste gratious reygne.

In this edition the text stands thus: -

And it is the Spirite that beareth wytnes, because the Spirite is truth (for there are thre whiche beare recorde in heaven, the Father, the Worde, and the Holy Ghost, and these thre are one.) For there are thre which beare recorde, (in earth), the Spirite, water, and blode, and these thre are one. If we receyve, etc.

The other printed in London "by William Tylle, 4to; without the Latin of Erasmus in M.CCCCC.XLIX. the thyrde yere of the reigne of our moost dreade Soverayne Lorde Kynge Edwarde the Syxte," has, with a small variety of spelling, the text in the same order, and the same words included in brackets as above.

The English Bible, with the book of Common Prayer, printed by Richard Cardmarden, at Rouen in Normandy, fol. 1566, exhibits the text faithfully, but in the following singular manner: -

And it is the Spyryte that beareth witnesse, because the Spyryte is truthe. (for there are three which beare recorde in heaven, the Father, the Woorde, and the Holy Ghost; and these Three are One) And three which beare recorde* (in earth) the Spirite, and water, and bloode; and these three are one.

The first English Bible which I have seen, where these distinctions were omitted, is that called The Bishops' Bible, printed by Jugge, fol. 1568. Since that time, all such distinctions have been generally disregarded.

Though a conscientious believer in the doctrine of the ever blessed, holy, and undivided Trinity, and in the proper and essential Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, which doctrines I have defended by many, and even new, arguments in the course of this work, I cannot help doubting the authenticity of the text in question; and, for farther particulars, refer to the observations at the end of this chapter."

Here we have a trinitarian believer that does not use this verse to defend the trinity doctrine!

    Darby's translation is thus:

1 John 5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus the Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is the truth.

1 John 5:7  For they that bear witness are three:

1 John 5:8  the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three agree in one.

    American Standard version:

1 John 5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood.

1 John 5:7  And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth.

1 John 5:8  For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.

The Pershitta Bible, which is from the Aramaic texts is as follows:

1 John 5:6 This is He who came by water and blood, even JESUS CHRIST, not by water only, but by water and blood.

1 John 5:7 And the Spirit testifies that that the very Spirit is truth.

1 John 5:8 And there are three to bear witness, the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three are one.

As you can see from the above. This verse can't be used in defence for the trinity doctrine. As Christians we need to search for the truth, no matter how hard it is. Once we find the truth we need to embrace it and thank GOD for showing us the truth. As the Father showed Peter the truth about His Son.

Matthew 16:15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Matthew 16:16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Matthew 16:17  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

It is the Father that reveals the truth about His Son to us. All we need to do is accept the truth. No matter the consequences!

  • These Bible studies focus on the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

The studies use the KJV Bible and use the study method mentioned in Isaiah 28:10.

Isaiah 28:10  For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

For a more in depth look at how to study the Bible go to "How to study the Bible".

Does the Bible refer to GOD as a trinity. A three in one god. Or does the Bible have a different understanding of who GOD is and has man made up their own god? The first commandment says:

Exodus 20:1  And God spake all these words, saying,

Exodus 20:2  I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Exodus 20:3  Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

We are not supposed to have any other gods before the GOD of the Bible. If we don't know who GOD is then how can we possibly understand the Bible.

These studies are from the Bible alone. We are not going to use any quotes from man, theologians, scholars or pastors. The Bible is the only book we need! JESUS used a "It is written" against Satan in the temptations that He went through. He is our Example, so we should do as our LORD and Saviour did.

Matthew 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 4:7  Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Satan then proceeded to use Scripture to counteract JESUS. This is what is happening today with Christians. The Bible is used to prove their own ideas, theories and sayings. Satan only quotes part of a verse, and unfortunately this is happening today as well.

Matthew 4:6  And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Here is the verse that Satan was quoting.

Psalms 91:11  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Psalms 91:12  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

What did Satan leave out? "To keep thee in all thy ways".

    Paul warned us against this.

Acts 20:29  For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

2 Timothy 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears

Has what Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:3 come true? Are Christians not listening to smooth things because it is easier than the truth and obeying GOD and His Word? What I have noticed is that as Christians we would rather have the world like us than be faithful and obey GOD. The Bible warns us about this as well.

James 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Have we as Christians become the enemy of GOD, because we want the world to love us?

As you can see, we need the Bible and the Bible alone! So is the trinity a man made doctrine? or is it from the Word of GOD? As Christians we must prove all things from the Word of GOD. Don't just listen to your pastor, theologian, scholar or what your denomination says, prove it from the Word of GOD. We need to get back to the Bible and the Bible alone. Have a look at "How to study the Bible"

1 Thessalonians 5:21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

    JESUS warned us.

Matthew 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Of course they don't come to you like a wolf. They speak smooth sayings, sound intelligent, have a nice way about them, but they lead you astray from the truth! JESUS also warned us about the false doctrines out there from the church leaders.

Matthew 16:6  Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Matthew 16:12  Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

There is a cry in the Bible at the end of time for God's people to come out.

Revelation 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Let us study the Bible and the Bible alone!

  • How to explain John 1:1

How do we explain John 1:1.

    • First, we need to have a look at the rest of what John is saying in his books that he wrote.
    • Second, we need to then look at the translation and see if what we have is correct to what the Greek says.
    • Third, Scripture needs to line up with other verses in the Bible. There cannot be contradiction.

Let us start to look at the verses in John's books.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 1:1 is used to prove the Trinity doctrine. Yet it does not line up with John 3:16. This verse does not say that "GOD so loved the world, that He gave GOD (Himself)". This is why we need to look at other verses to understand what GOD is telling us.

John 1:18  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

How can JESUS declare the Father if He has not seen Him? JESUS answers this to Philip.

John 14:9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Looking at John 17:3. JESUS says that the Father is the only true GOD.

John 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

JESUS never said that He was the only true GOD.

1 John 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

JESUS in the Scriptures is called the Son of GOD. This GOD has said. We make Him a liar by saying something else!

1 John 2:22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

The testimony of GOD in HIs Word is that JESUS CHRIST is His Son! So, what was John saying in the first verse of his Gospel?

Let us look at two other Bible versions to see how they translated this verse.

John 1:1 Before the world was created, the Word already existed: He was with GOD, and He was the same as GOD. (Good News Bible)

John 1:1 When all things began, the Word already was. The Word dwelt with GOD, and what GOD was, the Word was. (New English Bible)

These translations show the same thought that John is saying in the KJV. These verse convey the same message as in the rest of John's books and in the rest of the Bible. This verse states that there are two persons. The Father and His Son!

It also follows what Paul is saying about JESUS.

Philippians 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Colossians 1:15  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

    Hebrews 1:3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

2 Corinthians 4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The word image in Greek is:

from G1503; a likeness, i.e. (literally) statue, profile, or (figuratively) representation, resemblance:—image.

When you look at humans that are part of a family. The son looks like the mother or dad, or both. The son or daughter is a likeness or resemblance to their parents.

The Son of GOD is the likeness or resemblance of the Father in Heaven.

1 John 5:1  Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

In this verse we have one that begat and one that is begotten. This would line up with the rest of Scripture in that JESUS was with GOD as in John 1:1. It also lines up with Hebrews 1:1-8.

Hebrews 1:1  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    Hebrews 1:2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

    Hebrews 1:3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 1:4  Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Hebrews 1:5  For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Hebrews 1:6  And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Hebrews 1:7  And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

Hebrews 1:8  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Paul explains here in Hebrews that GOD the Father has a Son. Who is called GOD by the Father. This is not hard to understand as when you look at humans they have nothing other than little humans as babies. So when GOD the Father tells us that He has a Son. The Son has all the attributes of His Father. This is why JESUS said:

John 14:9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

In order to understand this a brief look at the original words is necessary. There are two forms of a word which denote deity in John 1:1. The two forms are: 1. theon, and 2. theos.
Ton Theon is the word God with a definite article in front which means “the God.” This then is the particular One known as the Supreme Being. So in John 1:1 we read “the word was with (the) God - that is the only true God, the Father. The only true God is always “ton theon” the God. Of course, in English we do not say the God, we always say “God.” The definite article is understood. In the Greek the only true God always has the definite article.

     John 1:1  In <en> the beginning <archḗ> was <ēn> the<ho> Word <lógos>, and <kaí> the<ho> Word <lógos> was <ēn> with <prós> (the<ton>) God <theós>, and <kaí> the Word <lógos> was <ēn> God <theós>.

And the word was “theos.” There is no definite article in front of the word theos! Without the definite article it is not the Father. It is a divine being like the Father but it is not the Supreme Being it is His Son. In order to reveal this thought John states very carefully, “the word was with God (the Father), and the word was Deity (just like His Father). That is the entire Bible message in the plan of salvation. The Father sent His Son to redeem mankind.

In John 17:3 The Sender is called by John, monon alethinon - the only true Supreme Being, the Father. Of course the sent one (Jesus Christ) is His Son.

For a more detailed look we may notice:

This <hoûtos> is <estí> the<ho> true <alēthinós> God <theós>, and <kaí> eternal <aiṓnios> life <zōḗ>.

Joh 1:1 therefore presents the sublime reality of two Beings who are both equally Deity, or divine but one is the Father and the other is the Son. There is nothing in this text that introduces a third party. That is mere speculation. What might be worse is accusing John of saying that the Word was with someone when there was no one else there.

  • John 17:3, Who is the true GOD?

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

JESUS is praying to His Father as we see in this first verse.

John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

JESUS says that life eternal is knowing the 'true GOD and JESUS CHRIST". Well we all know who JESUS is, OR do we? These studies are on the True GOD and JESUS CHRIST. This is important as John reveals in 1 John.

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Are we as Christians denying the true GOD as mentioned in John 17:3? Are we antichrist and don't even know it? Is this because we have not studied our Bibles? As we have just listen to our pastors, theologians, scholars and what the denomination says! Are we in trouble of denying the Father and His Son? I believe we are. This is all due to John 17:3. How can we have eternal life when we believe that GOD is one in three or three in one, a trinity. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that believing in the trinity is life eternal. I have seen statements from a denomination that claims this.

1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

The trinity doctrine does not have a true Son of GOD. It has "God the Son", which is just a title and is not the same as the Son of GOD. You see the Son of GOD is a Son of the true GOD. We see that the true GOD is the Father. This is done in another more in depth study.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

John believed that JESUS is a literal Son of the true GOD!

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Son is not a metaphor here in the Bible otherwise GOD and JESUS would have lied to us. It is absurd to think that people today are saying this, that Son is a metaphor. This is said by the so called learned men in the denominations.

If GOD did not send His literal Son then we have no eternal life. This is what the Scriptures are telling us here. Eternal life is believing in the true GOD and JESUS CHRIST whom He sent. The Scriptures reveal to us that GOD had a Son to send and that is what He did!

  • The Holy Spirit

Now that you have seen from the Bible that GOD is the Father and has a Son, JESUS Christ, what about the Holy Spirit? First, there is no where in the Bible that calls the Holy Spirit, "God the Holy Spirit"! This term is a man made term and should not be used. Let us start in 2 Peter.

2 Peter 1:21  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

This verse is used to prove that the Holy Spirit is a third person, but does this verse really say that. One problem is that there is no further verses that we have looked at yet. Bible study is not taking one verse and making a doctrine out of it! Let us look at what Peter says in his other book.

1 Peter 1:10  Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

1 Peter 1:11  Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

Here we have used one of the methods of Bible study. A question arises, Are there now two persons in the prophets? The Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ? Or is this the same person? The Spirit of Christ and the Holy Spirit are the same person as the Bible says "Christ in you".

Colossians 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Paul says "Christ in you", not somebody else. It is only JESUS that can help us as He is the only One that knows what we go through as He lived on this planet and was tempted as we are.

Hebrews 4:15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

It is the Spirit of Christ that we need to be able to overcome.

Romans 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Paul says "in the Spirit". Which Spirit is this? It is the Spirit of GOD, and as we see in the same verse it is the same Spirit that is in Christ as Christ came forth from the Father so He has the same Spirit  as the Farther. This is the Spirit that we need.

Romans 8:10  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Paul understood that it is the Spirit of Christ that we need in us to overcome not some other third person called "God the Holy Spirit". We have been looking for another person to help us and not looking to the Son of GOD for our help. No wonder we are struggling as Christians. No wonder we can't overcome. We need to stop listening to man and get back to the Bible. Wrong doctrine cannot save us as a people!

What about blasphemy to the Holy Spirit? This is one question that always comes up. Let us look at what the Bible says about blasphemy. Yet again we can't take one verse and assume what we think or are told what it means. We need to read this verse in context with the whole passage and with other related verses in the Bible.

Matthew 12:31  Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

This verse is quoted alone and then said, "you see you are blaspheming against the Holy Spirit". Is this true? Why did JESUS say this? and what was He accused of doing?

Matthew 12:23  And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

Matthew 12:24  But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

JESUS was been accused of using the power of the Devil to cast out devils. Let us read JESUS' reply.

Matthew 12:25  And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Matthew 12:26  And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

Matthew 12:27  And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

Matthew 12:28  But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Matthew 12:29  Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Matthew 12:30  He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Matthew 12:31  Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Matthew 12:32  And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Matthew 12:33  Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

Matthew 12:34  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

JESUS says that it is by the Spirit of GOD that He casts out devils. The Spirit of GOD is not the same as "God the Holy Spirit". The Spirit of GOD is personal and is part of the Father., whereas "God the Holy Spirit" is a third person. As we have noticed that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of GOD. This shows that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father. We need to have the same Spirit in us.

1 Corinthians 2:12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Is the spirit of the world another person that we receive? No it is the character of the world that we take on and that lives in us. The same as with the Spirit of GOD. If we have the Spirit of GOD, then we will become like Christ and take on His character.

Isaiah 55:7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 55:8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 55:9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Micah 4:12  But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.

We need to have the thoughts of GOD and not our own. The only way to to have His Spirit in us.

Blasphemy is calling one thing something that it is not. As in the above verses the pharisees were calling the Spirit of GOD that of the Devil. It is this that cannot be forgiven.

John 10:33  The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

The Jews knew what blasphemy meant. It is calling something something else. As in this verse, they accused JESUS of making Himself GOD while He is just a man.

Mark 14:61  But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

Mark 14:62  And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mark 14:63  Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

Mark 14:64  Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

The high priest did not believe that JESUS is the Son of GOD. He said that JESUS was blaspheming. Calling Himself something that He is not.

JESUS uses the word in the same way.

Revelation 2:9  I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Here are Christians that say they are, but they are not actually Christians, they are part of Satan's camp. This is blasphemy, calling something that it is not.

We all know that it was JESUS Christ that died for us, but in the next verse it says something different.

Acts 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Here it says that the Holy Ghost shed his blood for us! Who is the head of the church?

Ephesians 5:23  For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

It is Christ that is the head of the church. The Holy Spirit as we have seen above is the Spirit of Christ. Have a look at the next verses from the book of Revelation.

Revelation 2:7  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 2:11  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 2:17  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 2:29  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 3:6  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 3:13  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 3:22  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Here it is repeated seven times, "let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches". It is JESUS speaking to the churches, so who must we listen to? It is JESUS that we must listen to. How? Through His Spirit. His Spirit is part of Him, not a seperate person.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Holy Spirit is a third person, as in the way the Trinity doctrine describes the Holy Spirit.

JESUS is our Comforter. The verse that is used to prove that the Holy Spirit is a third person is:

    John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

If we read further to verse 18.

John 14:18  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

The Father has not sent a different person as in the third person in the Trinity doctrine. He has sent the Spirit of His Son to us. What a blessing this is to the Christian as he is closer to Christ than the disciples were, as we have Christ in our hearts!

Galatians 4:6  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

  • The Son

Who is the Son? The Son of the living GOD is the way to the Father and to eternal like as well.

John 6:51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

John 10:9  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

John 10:11  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

John 11:25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 15:1  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Revelation 22:16  I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

There is only one way to the Father and that is through His Son, JESUS Christ.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

As we can see by these verses that it is important to know who JESUS is, as this is life, eternal life. Eternal life keeps bringing us back to John 17:3

John 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

To have eternal life we must know the true GOD and JESUS Christ. This is vitally important that we are not deceived by man. We need to let GOD's Word lead us in this important study.

The Bible refers to JESUS as the Son of GOD. No where in the Bible is the term "God the Son" used. So why is the Christian world using  terminology that is nowhere to be found in the Word of GOD? We must have a "Thus saith the LORD", "It is written" on our lips and in our writings. "GOD the Son" is not "It is written" so we cannot use this terminology.

Is JESUS the Son of GOD? Let us look at what is written in the Bible. First we will start with what JESUS had to say about Himself. He should know better than any pastor, theologian or scholar.

John 10:36  Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Matthew 27:43  He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

When JESUS was at His trial, what question did the pharisees asks Him? and what did JESUS answer?

Mark 14:61  But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

Mark 14:62  And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

In the trinity doctrine JESUS is not actually a Son, and cannot be. The trinity doctrine does not allow for an actual, literal Son of GOD. The pharisees questioned JESUS about Him been the Son of GOD. JESUS said that He is the Son of GOD. These verses and many more go against the trinity doctrine.

The devil also questioned JESUS about been the Son of GOD and he has got the Christian world to do the same thing, question the fact that JESUS is not really the Son of GOD by getting the Christians to believe in a trinity that is not in the Bible.

Matthew 4:3  And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Matthew 4:6  And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Are we was Christians not doing the same thing today by believing in the Trinity doctrine. The trinity doctrine does not have a son, as all three are the same. When you really look into the trinity doctrine you will find that it does not make any sense. GOD wants us to believe in something true, not something that when asked nobody can really explain. This is why JESUS is just given the title "God the Son". The Bible has the answer for us. It may be harsh to those that don't want to see the truth.

1 John 2:22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1 John 2:23  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

The trinity doctrine is denying the Father and Son. To be a Father you need a literal Son. This is why JESUS is called the Son of GOD in the Bible. Let us not believe what man is telling us and let us dig more into GOD's Word. Who called JESUS the Son?

Hebrews 1:1  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    Hebrews 1:2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Here GOD, which we have studied is the Father, is calling JESUS His Son. Who do you believe, man or GOD? You can't appoint an heir if you don't have one to give to. In the trinity doctrine there can be no heir as they where all there at the same time. How can you then appoint an heir?

    Hebrews 1:3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

So JESUS is the "express image" of the Father. JESUS came from the Father so He would have all the attributes of the Father. He is divine just like His Father is.

The Father here says that "this day have I begotten thee". This leads us to other Scriptures. First we need to find out who wisdom is referring to.

1 Corinthians 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Paul refers to JESUS as wisdom. What did JESUS have to say about wisdom.

Matthew 23:34  Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

In this verse Christ says that He will send prophets, etc. In the next verse, using the TSK method of study it says.

Luke 11:49  Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

Here the JESUS says that it is the "wisdom of GOD" that sends the prophets etc. So JESUS is wisdom in the Bible. Let us look at Proverbs 8 and see what it says about wisdom, which is Christ. The Scriptures testify of JESUS.

John 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Let us now have a look at Proverbs 8

Proverbs 8:22  The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

Proverbs 8:23  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Proverbs 8:24  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

The Bible says that JESUS was brought forth. How?, we are not told in the Bible and it is not important. What is is that we know that JESUS is the Son of GOD.

Proverbs 8:25  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Next verse says the same thing. It is as though GOD is trying to get us to understand about His Son.

Proverbs 8:26  While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

Proverbs 8:27  When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

Proverbs 8:28  When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

Proverbs 8:29  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

    Proverbs 8:30  Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

The Bible does not say that JESUS was by "them". It says by "Him", the Father of all. Back to Hebrews.

Now before anybody accuses us of believing that JESUS was created. This verse goes against this as the Father calls JESUS His Son and GOD. Is JESUS really begotten?

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The favourite verse in all Christianity and yet we still believe in the trinity doctrine. GOD had to have a Son to give, otherwise He is lying! Is GOD lying or man?

1 John 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

The trinity doctrine has no Son to give. Just think about it!

1 John 4:9  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

The big question is, How are we saved? and how do we overcome?

1 John 5:5  Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Do you reader believe that JESUS is the Son of GOD? This is the only way to overcome!

1 John 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1 John 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

1 John 5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 John 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Eternal life is through the Father and the Son. There is no other way. Your denomination won't save you, your pastor, theologian and scholars won't save you. The question comes, will they tell you the truth?
