Image of GOD
The Bible says that man is created in the image of GOD.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
The word image means:
a phantom, i.e. (figuratively) illusion, resemblance; hence, a representative figure, especially an idol:—image, vain shew
The word likeness means:
resemblance; concretely, model, shape; adverbially, like:—fashion, like (-ness, as), manner, similitude
As we can see both words can mean resemblance. Resemblance means:
1. The state or quality of resembling, especially similarity in appearance or in external or superficial details.2. Something that resembles another; a likeness or semblance.
1. The state, quality, or fact of being like; resemblance.2. A similar appearance; a semblance.3. A pictorial, graphic, or sculptured representation of something; an image.
Both words are similar in meaning. GOD made man in His likeness.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
If as the trinity doctrine says, that GOD is a three in one god, then we too should have three in one in us. What does the Bible say about how Adam was made?
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
GOD made man from the dust of the ground plus the breath of life, and this made a living soul. We can write this as a formula.
Dust of the ground + breath of life from GOD = living soul
We are living souls. The person that you see walking around is a living soul! This shows that man is composed of two things, not three! The trinity doctrine says that GOD is a three in one or a one in three god. Then why are we not three persons in one? The problem becomes worse when we have a look at what Paul says about CHRIST.
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Paul says that CHRIST is also in the image of GOD. This posses a bigger problem to the trinity doctrine as in this doctrine CHRIST is supposed to be part of the three in one god. He is supposed to be one of the three persons. But Paul goes against the trinity doctrine here by saying the CHRIST is also in the image of GOD. We all know that CHRIST can't be a three in one as well as GOD been also three in one. This does not make any sense. CHRIST is His own person. The same as Adam his own person. This then makes GOD His own person. JESUS said that the Father is the true GOD.
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Paul is also showing that, as Adam came after GOD, so did CHRIST. To be a Son of GOD only makes sense that JESUS came after GOD the Father. Then Pauls statement that CHRIST is in the image of GOD makes sense, in that GOD, who is the Father was first. Then the Father made CHRIST in His image. JESUS says that the Scriptures testify of Him. So there must be a parallel to how CHRIST came forth from the Father.
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
JESUS tells us to search the Scriptures as they testify of Him. Let us have a look to find a story that can show us more about the Father and Son. How the Father made CHRIST in His own image.
Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;Genesis 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
GOD took a part of Adam and made Eve from his rib. This resembles how CHRIST came from GOD. It also take us back to Proverbs chapter eight.
Proverbs 8:22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.Proverbs 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.Proverbs 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
This shows that CHRIST was brought forth before creation. How the Father did this, we are not told. It is not for us to know. We know that the Father has a Son and He sent His Son into the world to die for our sins.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Begotten means only born. So GOD has an only born Son. This goes against the trinity doctrine. We can also see that Paul, John and the apostles never believed in a trinity god. They never wrote about a three in one god either! They were Jews and believed in one GOD.
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
JESUS never corrected this statement by saying the LORD our GOD is a three in one LORD. No, JESUS was not a trinitarian!
